In the beginning there was a big A as in ATTITUDE and this gave birth to V as in VISION.
Someone out there might be able to figure out that we are talking about our drummer
Eepo, who is a familiar guy especially among the old school rockers. After playing in all kinds of bands and ensembles forever,
Eepo still had one dream that was never fulfilled. Runosmaki's own Jari Salonen who was almost equally fanatic and had earned a
reputation as somewhat of a maniac shared Eepo's passionate vision. From day one, Jari blew Eepo away with his Lizzy record collection,
which is probably one of a kind in the whole Europe. Eepo was quick to point out, however, that he had seen Lizzy perform live four times whereas
Jari had seen them only once. Anyway, from all this background information it is obvious that Eepo and Jari aren't exactly rookies anymore.
The countdown for Cold Sweat started in the spring of 2002 when the two fanatics set the wreckingball rolling. The task was clear:
to bring awareness of the old Thin Lizzy classics to the general public and to do so without touching the original arrangements but
with a modern sound that would kick ass especially during live performances.
So this was the premise and the next task was to find a bass player, which turned out to be difficult because of the specific qualities we were looking for.
We needed a guy who obviously digs Lizzy, plays with an attitude and has an excellent sense of style. Fortunately Eepo thought
Aki whom he had met during his sessions with Muska several years ago. Given Eepo's characteristic authority, Aki couldn't refuse and he was in.
An obvious prerequisite was a thorough knowledge of the Lizzy songs. This was no problem for Aki and nowadays he knows the songs better than the old timers.
At the same time guitarist Allu came in the door and joined the group. From the beginning, his duties were clearly defined;
Allu would be in charge of providing the appropriate provocative stage presence and attracting the women. He has truly lived
up to these expectations as there is no shortage of women by his side of the stage during gigs. Among the new guitar heroes
Allu is definitely to Eepo's liking. With some coaching he will be an awesome player. Allu brings with him tight rhythm and tasty
soloing to Cold Sweat and despite occasionally being on a different planet, it all works out in the end.
The most difficult task was still ahead of us: how to find a vocalist who could interpret Lynott's style of singing even to some extent?
The perfect candidate couldn't be found so we had to settle for a compromise and Taage (well known in the music business) was recruited.
He turned out great and brought with him new perspectives to Lizzy's old classics. Taage sings most of the tracks in the album 'Dedicated to Thin Lizzy'.
There are also other vocalists on the album, check em out in band section.
Due to other musical hurrys Taage had to leave the band and In August 2006 Cold Sweat introduced their new italian frontman Luca.
